More fun music for the week. Watch the new video by Die Antwoord. You ain't ever seen nuthin'. It's grimey, grotesque, dark, and completely fucced. 'Ten$Ion' is the new album out this week. Rumble in the jungle!
Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' has received some seriously harsh reviews. After the SNL performance, I believe it to be hard for the masses to see the performer that Lana really is. She is capping her tour stops at 900 people per venue. What does that tell you?
Personally, I think the album is refreshing among other pop artists that are slowly drying out the genre. Here's a review from Rolling Stone. Make sure you take a listen and judge for yourself. 2G4R is streaming the album!
Azealia Banks. She's from New York, so she says. Been checking up on her for awhile now. All are awaiting an album by Banks who recently signed with Universal Records. Listen to 'Bambi' which premiered at the MUGLER Men's Fall 2012 fashion show.
Also be sure to check a recent release with video, '212'.
The Asteriods Galaxy Tour FINALLY gave us a new album today!
Heart Attack is the first single from the album, and it's pretty groovy. But the rest is pretty damn funky. This time they gave us full-on psychadelic rock. Not only is the re-invention tolerable - it's genius. This album pulls from various 70s-inspired genres while maintaining popular appeal. This is soundtrack material. Give me visuals!
Somehow I've lived without television since May. That's almost 8 months now. Anyone else who has lived with television and then without...I wonder if you've also experienced that productivity does NOT increase post-TV. I find that disturbing. Mostly I'm disturbed by the sad reality that there is no escape. My lack of initiative with my school work unfortunately cannot be solved by television removal. Now what?
Well...I ought to get back to my shows. But hell, television has changed hasn't it? I used to be a big fan of Flipping Out on Bravo, but the intro of 'Interior Therapy' on Facebook is a signal for me to no longer expect another season (right?). It sounds like people are into these shitty shows like 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Oddballs TLC Found'. Reality TV hasn't intrigued me much. My life is hella real. And sitcoms are NOT what they used to be. Maybe you disagree. I need options.
Here's a suggestion. Take a peek at 'Portlandia' on IFC. Get sucked in by the opening track by Washed Out, then indulge in the clever humor at the expense of hipsters. Hipsters probably see it as a tribute. To us actually-trendy sexpots, it's just a sane perspective on hipster life and it's oddities. How fun! Speaking of, I've been watching Flight of the Conchords DVDs. Also fun.
Meanwhile, I'll try to mooch off some Parks + Rec and 30 Rock DVDs.
